i wanted to be brave
selfish. all for me
i thought to wield bravery
as a shield
a shell
would keep me safe.
But there is a difference
between brave
and hard.
it is stronger to be soft
and harder to simply be.
to brave the
little things thrown out,
freed to the world
that perhaps will
not want them
know them,
love them.
i want to be brave,
to let out the little things
be seen
to be naked; to be.

there you are.
where were you?
why have you been hiding?
was it a game i was meant to play?
was i 'it', unwittingly?
i was 'it'. now have i won?
i did miss you, while you were
thought lost
though i did not know it all the time.
funny, the way we hide and find.
always find, eventually.
i did look, everywhere for what
i'd thought lost.
at least once i'd noticed.
around corners in dusty basements
stacked to the dropped ceilings, filled.
other peoples' memories.
though now i see - found.
never lost, just hidden.
